Meet Allison Wheatley-So, Hearing Instrument Specialist

Allison is a Registered Hearing Instrument Specialist with the Association of Hearing Instrument Practitioners of Ontario (AHIP) who brings over 20 years of clinical experience to Toronto Hearing Services. Over the course of her career she has served patients at Sears Hearing Centre, Hear for Life, and Hearing Life, and she now brings that deep expertise in hearing assessment, hearing aid selection, and fitting to our patients.

She completed the three year Hearing Instrument Specialist program at George Brown College, an AHIP recognized Ontario College Advanced Diploma, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Gerontology from the University of Guelph. Clinically, she also holds a cerumen management certification, so safe ear care is part of the comprehensive hearing services she provides.

Allison’s background extends well beyond the clinic and into cognitive health. She has experience in activation and recreation programming within retirement home settings, and has volunteered supporting adults with cognitive impairment through adult day programs. To further that interest, she became an NCCDP Certified Dementia Practitioner in 2025.

That combination of gerontology training, hands on dementia care experience, and hearing health expertise allows Allison to bring a patient centered, whole person approach to hearing care for older adults and for those living with cognitive decline.
