Types of Hearing Losses

Hearing loss is usually irreversible. Hearing loss can be sensorineural (damage to hearing nerves) or conductive (problems with outer and middle ear) or a mix of both across different frequencies. How to Test For Hearing Losses

Toronto Hearing Services offer OHIP-covered Standard Audiometry that tests the most important frequencies for understanding speech. Extended High-Frequency Testing and LISN-S (Listening in Spatialized Noise – Sentences) tests can also be done by private pay. For suspicions of central auditory processing disorders, please refer to us for the CAP test.
